About The Learning Network

The Learning Network(TLN) was the brainchild of the Honorable Brenda Lawrence who believed there was a need to develop a program that focused on enhancing the employability skills of local youth. TLN was initiated by The Torch of Wisdom Foundation, Inc. and funded by the Phillip and Elizabeth Filmer Memorial Charitable Trust in 2013. Since inception, we have had over 100 students graduate from the program! For six Saturday sessions, participants hear from professional speakers and engage in sessions that will make them successful for their first jobs and careers. What makes TLN unique is that students earn a $50 stipend every participated session!

How You Can Help?

VOLUNTEER: Have a professional subject that you have expertise in and can serve as a volunteer presenter or want to volunteer with program facilitation? We need you!

CORPORATE PARTNERSHIP: We are always looking for corporate partners for related resources and materials, venue session options and scholarship opportunities.

DONATE: Our donated funds 100% go to the program as TLN is volunteer-led. We need dollars for stipends, student lunches, and program materials.

INTERNSHIPS/EMPLOYMENT: Can you provide job shadowing experiences, internships, part-time or seasonal employment? We would love to offer these opportunities to our students.
